ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Barewa Rugby Club was formed 2004 in Kano by former rugby players Khattar Boukaroum and Martin Crawford. The aim was to create an independent, well run rugby club for the youth of Kano to enjoy the game, and all the benefits the sport can bring.

Over the years the club has grown from strength to strength, culminating in Barewa winning the North Nigeria league title undefeated in 2011, as well as winning the Northern sevens title. Not bad for a bunch of players new to the game.

Over the last five years we have focussed on schools rugby, in order to supply a steady stream of talent for the senior team. We have registered as a not-for-profit with Corporate Affairs Commission, and our Executive Committee is intent on creating sustainability through empowerment.
